Female Physicians at PMH Celebrated on National Women Physician Day

March 4, 2018

On this National Women Physicians Day, PMH Medical Center recognizes its female physicians, their care to patients and their continued contributions to local communities. This national recognition date marks the birthday of Elizabeth Blackwell, MD, who, in 1849, was the first woman to earn a medical degree in the United States.

PMH Medical Center female physicians include Shabnam Chaugle, MD; Lisa Galbraith, DO; Wali Martin, MD; Terry Murphy, MD, MS, FACEP; Carolyn O’Connor, MD; Suzanne Staudinger, MD; and Susan Whitaker, DO. These physicians work in a variety of healthcare specialties, including emergency medicine, family medicine, general surgery and obstetrics and gynecology.

“This recognition day celebrates Elizabeth Blackwell and all of those who have paved the way for us as female physicians, as well as recognizes the work of female physicians today who continue to pave the way for the future,” Dr. Galbraith said.
