On April 28 – National Prescription Drug Take Back Day – PMH Medical Center joins with national organizations and governmental agencies to help prevent drug addiction and overdose.
National Prescription Drug Take Back Day aims to provide a safe, convenient and responsible way to dispose of prescription drugs, helping to reduce the potential for medication abuse. Year-round, PMH has a prescription drug take back collection box located in the hospital emergency room lobby to assist in the efforts. Individuals are encouraged to take any unused or expired medications to the collection box. PMH partnered with Prosser Thrive (formerly Prosser CIA Coalition) in 2015 to place and establish the location as an official take-back collection location.
Research shows that millions of American abuse controlled prescription drugs every year, and a majority of those drugs were obtained from family, friends or at home.
